e. These jurors included professors, professional artists, art historians, and designers. For those wishing to get a sense of what is being done today in the field of drawing at the international level, the INDA is an excellent first resource! The publication is intended to serve as an experience much like a gallery exhibition, with priority given to the large full-color images and many full page details of the drawing. This allows for a page-by-page discovery of the creativity, intellect, and craftsmanship of each work represented. As an 'exhibition in print' the INDA gathers a diverse set of works and presents them in such a way that their page-to-page sequence makes the overall experience of the book even more inspiring than do the individual works alone. The International Drawing Annual publications are an extension of Manifest's Drawing Center mission. The goal of the INDA is to support the recognition, documentation, and publication of excellent, current, and relevant works of drawing from around the world. The 9th International Drawing Annual (INDA 9) is an extension of the award-winning ongoing International Drawing Annual (INDA) line launched in 2005, along with the award-winning International Photography Annual (INPHA) launched in 2012.For the INDA 9, Manifest's jury reviewed 1508 drawing submissions from 580 artists in 46 states, Washington D.C, and 32 countries. The 192 page publication includes 116 works by 82 artists from 30 states, Washington D.C, and 7 countries including South Africa, Spain, the Netherlands, France, England, Canada, and the United States. All drawings were made between 2011 and 2014. Written works by Patricia Emison (Lee, New Hampshire) and Jane Zich (Fairfax, California) are also included, along with an introduction by Manifest's Executive Director, Jason Franz. Fourteen professional and academic advisors qualified in the fields of art, design, criticism, and art history juried the project.MANIFEST is an internationally recognized award-winning 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2004 by professors and students dedicated to creating high quality experiences of visual art through exhibition, publication, artist-support, and education.
